עברית: אף על פי שנקבע לחן קבוע להמנון, במהלך חידון התנ"ך בשנת 1958, נוגנה "התקווה" בלחן שונה. ראש הממשלה דוד בן-גוריון, אשר נכח בטקס, ביקש ביום המחרת ממנכ"ל משרדו להעביר נזיפה בנושא לאחראים על כך. בדבריו ציין בן-גוריון‏ כי ההמנון "הוא ערך לאומי, ואין לשום איש ... רשות לעשות בו כאדם העושה בתוך שלו. יש להשגיח על כך שבכל מקרה שיש לנגן בו המנון שלנו..., ינגנו אותו כמות שהוא, בלי 'שיפורים' שרירותיים".
